The JKA World Cup – also known as the "Shoto Cup", the "Shoto World Cup", and the "Funakoshi Gichin World Cup" . The global Shotokan community comes together to compete at this event, to which each country sends a select National Team.
Dear Members, Parents, and Supporters,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our dojo, Shotokan Karate Club, which is proudly affiliated with JKA-SKC Australasia under the leadership of Keith Geyer Shihan.
Four of our dedicated karatekas—Damian Beausang, Noah Babaii, Jordan Lavea, and Leilah Lavea—have been selected to represent Australia at the prestigious JKA Shoto Cup in Japan this October 2024. This is an incredible honour, as the Shoto Cup is one of the premier international karate tournaments, bringing together the world’s top Shotokan practitioners to compete in both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring).
However, this journey requires significant financial support. We are reaching out to our community to help fund the end-to-end process, including the costs of uniforms, tournament fees, and all travel-related expenses to Japan. The estimated cost per participant is approximately $5,000 - $5,500.
Your generous donations will directly contribute to making this dream a reality for our students. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us get one step closer to representing Australia on the world stage.
Let’s come together as a community to support our team and ensure they can focus on their training and performance without the burden of financial stress.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our dojo and its talented members.
Sincerely,
Shamyla Lavea
